I fell into leadership 15 years ago as the Founder of the multi-award-winning DiVA Apprenticeships, which I built and sold. Under my leadership, the company became a key player in launching thousands of individuals into careers with leading global brands like Universal Music, the BBC and Sony Music, securing an additional £2.6 million for talent development programmes.
Despite the commercial success, my early days as a leader and manager were far from perfect. I lacked the training and development needed to lead effectively, which not only impacted the team members I served but also hindered my own personal and professional growth.
- So, I deeply understand the push and pull many leaders and managers face, balancing commercial needs with supporting and developing their team and carving out time to invest in their own personal and professional growth. This shared experience is what connects us all in our leadership journey.
I also know that not all things are equal when developing high-potential talent. Although organisations that invest in leadership development see a 25% increase in performance, only 44% of HR leaders feel they have the internal expertise and support to implement leadership initiatives.
The High Potential Talent Summit is designed to bridge this gap.
